A DIAGNOSIS OF AUTISM can be an overwhelming, even devastating event in any parent’s life. We know. In January 2001, our 2 year-old son, Nicholas, received such a diagnosis.

If you are the parent of a child with autism, you know the agonizing pain of the shock, grief, distress, and even the hopelessness that can grip your soul. If you are a friend or family member of someone with a child with autism, you may well have spent time trying to comfort or bring clarity to a grieving parent. And in the midst of the dark night, one question burns in our spirits: Where is God?

Within that question lies many others we are often left to ponder: Does He have a plan for those afflicted with autism? What is to become of them? What destiny could they possibly have? Can He, will He heal them? And what of the families? Will we ever get our lives back? Will our marriage survive? Will we survive?

As these questions resound within our hearts, God has given us a promise we can hold on to:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:11-13, NIV).

Even as you face one of life’s greatest trials, know that God is there for you. There is hope. There is life. There is restoration. There is a future. But for us to grab a hold of all God has for us, we must first seek Him. We must pray.

It is for that reason that we have created this website for family or friends of those struggling with autism.

Here is what you will find as you navigate our website. All our services, subscriptions, and basic materials are completely free to you.

Daily Prayer. Every day of the year we update our website and email our Daily Prayer to a large multinational list of subscribers. Each Daily Prayer includes a beautiful Scripture calendar page, as well as a prayer appropriate for parents' use, and a prayer appropriate for family and friends' use. Daily Prayer Journal. You can now create a complete prayer journal to enhance your devotional life. featuring the Daily Prayers. Our prayer journals consist of three elements. What you include is totally up to you!

• Daily Prayer Pages. Newly redesigned! For each day we have created a Daily Prayer page including a Scripture calendar page, the prayer, and a place for writing journal notes. Subscribers are able to download pages with the link provided in every Daily Prayer we send out. These pages are also available throughout our website, including a link in the footer of every web page.

Inspirational Articles. We offer inspirational articles full of hope and encouragement on many topics of practical and spiritual interest to special needs families. To receive new articles via email, please click here to create a new account or edit your existing subscriptions.

Turning the Tide! Prayer Thrust. Each April, in honor of Autism Awareness Month, we sponsor a special prayer thrust whereby thousands from around the world come together in a unified concert of prayer to see the tide of autism turned. Further announcements for the upcoming Turning the Tide! Prayer Thrust and how you can participate will be made on our website each February. Click here for more information.

Autism Strategic Prayer Network. Because we believe so strongly in the power of prayer, we at Children of Destiny are now working to compile a list of people who feel called to pray for what is going on in the autism world. This network of people, who will be known as the Autism Strategic Prayer Network (ASPN), would be receiving periodic, as well as emergency, emails asking for prayer for important issues, events, and occurrences related to autism. Bulletin Inserts/Handouts. Courtesy of Unlocking Autism, we are now making bulletin inserts/handouts available for use during Autism Awareness Month or any time of the year. There are three designs to choose from. Coupled with the Turning the Tide! brochure and calendar, you could have a different handout for each week in April.
